The Opposite of Love
For five years, our office secretary attempted to make my weekend-boarding life miserable. I convinced myself that her crankiness was just a product of her midlife crisis.
It was late for me to realize that my suffering was also a product of my false humility: I did not assert my right to be treated fairly.
Dead And Back Again
I had a gift of conversation this morning with a man gifted with a Near Death Experience (NDE). After the accident, Engel’s friends told him he was unconscious for about 30 seconds. But to him it was hours or longer, floating in nothingness, fully aware of the feelings of happiness, kindness, love and contentment.
Don’t Get Slapped
I love Jesus' sense of humor. Well, most people missed it. Try this: "If a soldier demands that you carry his baggage for a mile, carry it two miles." Imagine taking his baggage a mile away from his destination!
Another worse misunderstood statement of Jesus which developed into a dysfunctional culture is this: "If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other cheek also" Did Jesus do it? No. But some Christians misinterpreted it and adapted false humility.
Dictum Roundup
Along this blog, there are lines that stand out from the rest. They are stand alone; quoted, twitted, posted and blogged. I prefer the word DICTUM to describe them.
Dictums are powerful. They are short but penetrating. Sometimes they come like soothing breeze of mid noon air, sometimes they come like fangs:
They bite through and through until they crack our bones.
Paranoia to Metanoia
Perhaps, I have already met some of the worst paranoid people in the society.
Bogs would not eat the food we gave him unless my mother would taste it first. Aldrin would spend his energy snooping into Juvy’s posts for something negative, dissect every metaphor, turn it into poison, drink it and then run around yelling: “Heeeey! Juvy wants to kill me!”
Reality Bites
Sometime ago, a friend asked me if my blog targets a certain kind of person. My answer is: 'Yes' and 'No'
The nature of my blog is to motivate and inspire by connecting, convincing and confronting. It is the product of my struggles, pains, faith and occasional victories. That’s where its grip.
Delay Is Not A Failure
"There's no more seat for you, sir." That was the last thing I wanted to hear after running and jumping to get to that bus. My exhaustion coming from a two day business trip tripled. I missed it just because of that plus size lady who blocked in my way for three seconds!
Emotional Divorce
The reason why we continue to cling to a distressful relationship lies our innate capacity to forgive, to hope and to forget. We're forgiving people; we always tend to see hope even when there's none, and we easily forget bad experiences: a kiss melts the tears away.
Sans Einstein
I learned about Einstein not so much from school but from friends. The film Back to the Future made me love him even more. He became the human face of science in my mind. The Noble Pig
And so, Pigs impressed me a lot. Perhaps, it's because Aesop always made sense when he used animals to teach noble things to men.
Here's another one:
In the farm of Tay Purit, animals were having some lazy discussions who was the greatest among them. The gullible ducks and proud chickens contributed their eggs; and the horny goats their milk.
The Pig, the Bad and the Ugly
In the past few days, I was surprised with douses of piggy quotations coming in. Pigs are generally less popular creatures, but this time, they impressed me.
The Chickadee vs. The Serpent
“How do we know if a serpent
simply pretends to be a chickadee?
When it stops singing and starts breathing out fire
” >>>
Deadma: The Power to Survive
I had the opportunity to work with some of the stressful people in the advertising agency this year. The work pressure is for me, inviting. I like the adrenaline rush. What was intoxicating was the way people related with each other. Skin, Innards and Posts
A friend told me before that the quality of ones' skin reflects the quality of ones' innards.
